Reviewer: Educational Technology II

  • Educational Technology I four phases of  application:
  1. Setting of learning objectives
  2. Designing specific learning experiences
  3. Evaluating the effectiveness of the learning experiences vis-a-vis the learning objectives
  4. Revsion as needed of the whole teaching-learning process
  • Education Technology II- is concerned with "Integrating Technology into teaching and learning". Specifically, this is focused on introducing, reinforcing,  supplementing and extending  the knowledge and skills to learners.
  • ICT( information communication technology )
  • Learning Objectives of Educ.tech:
  1. To learn to use and evaluate computer-based resources
  2. To impart learning expereinces
  3. To engage learner to practical technology integration
  4. To inculcate higher-level thinking and creativity
  • 5 progressively ICT states users:
  1. New zealand
  2. Australia
  3. Malaysia
  4. Singapore
  5. Hong kong
  • External Manifestations of technology integration into instruction:
  1. There's a change in  the way classes are traditionally conducted
  2. The quality of instruction is improved to a higher level
  3. There is a planning by the teacher on the process to determining how  and when technology fits into teaching and learning process
  4. The teacher sets instructional technology
  5. Technology occupies a position
  • Meaningful learning- gives focus to new experience  that is related to what the learner already knows.
  •  Discovery learning- is differentiated from reception learning in which ideas are presented directly to students in a well organized way
  • Generative Learning- active learners who attend to learning events and generate meaning from  this experience and draw inference thereby creating personal model
  • Constructivism- builds a personal understanding through appropriate learning activities and a good learning environment.
  •  Higher learning outcomes:
           Complex                                                            Sub-skills
  1. Focusing                                                     Defining the problem, goal
  2. Information Gathering                               Selection, Recording
  3. Remembering                                             Associating
  4. Analyzing                                                    Patterns
  5. Generating                                                  Deducing, Inducting
  6. Organizing                                                  Classifying, Relating
  7. Imagining                                                    Visualizing, Predicting
  8. Designing                                                    Planning, formulating
  9. Integration                                                  Summarizing, Abstracting
  10. Evaluating                                                   Setting criteria, testing idea
  •  Upgraded project method-  beyond the ordinary benchmark of student's passing even excelling achievement test.
  • IT consists:
  1. Depth
  2. Complexity
  3. Duration
  4. Relevance
  • Process of Project implementation takes the students to:
  1. Steps
  2. Efforts
  3. Experiences
  • Examples of IT_based projects:
  1. Resource based projects
  2. Simple  Creations
  3. Guided hyper-media projects
  4. Web-based projects
  • Resource-based projects- steps out of the traditional role of being  an content expert and information provider
  • Simple Creations- assigned to create their software materials to supplement the need for relevant and  effective materials.
  • Creativity is said to combine three kinds of skills:
  1. Analyzing- distinguish similarities and differences
  2. Synthesizing- making spontaneous connections among ideas
  3. Promoting- selling o f new ideas to allow public to test the ideas themselves
  • Web-based projects- students can be made to create and post webpages on a given topic.
